In health week many people visited our school to teach us how to keep our bodies and minds healthy.
On Monday, Kiran came in to teach us Body Balance. We tried a variety of stretching exercises and also learnt some relaxation techniques. We found out that exercise can be calming.
On Tuesday, the Active Life Coach came to school. In the morning we took part in a health workshop and found out about which foods were healthy, the importance of cleaning our teeth, where different foods come from and the effects bad choices can have on our bodies.
In the afternoon we all took part in a fitness workshop to help us to understand the different types of exercises we can do to keep our bodies healthy.
On Wednesday, George the skipping coach showed us different skipping techniques. Some were quite tricky. We found out that boxers skip to help them stay fit.
On Thursday, we had a visit from ASDA. We were introduced to some fruit and vegetables that most of us had not seen before. The lady taught us about where they came from and why they are an important part of our diet.
On Friday the whole school took part in a healthy picnic lunch. The sandwiches all had healthy fillings in them and the puddings were fruit or yoghurt. Some children also entered the healthy lunchbox competition and won a skipping rope.
Throughout the week our teachers taught us other ways to keep healthy. Everyone learned some first aid skills so that we will know what to do to help others.
We also made healthy food. Nursery and Reception made fresh fruit smoothies. Year 1 designed and made pizzas with healthy toppings. Year 2 created fruit salad and Year 3 and 4 made delicious fruit kebabs. Year 5 made tasty vegetable soup.
Virtual Learning Enviornment
We have implemented a virtual learning environment into school. The aim of a VLE is to have online activities and games for the children to play on. These are set by the class teacher. Each year group has their own VLE which is relevant to their ages and stages. Please follow the link in the VLE section of this website and your child has been sent home with thier individual log ins.
