Religious Education
Prayers For Peace Written by Year 6
In St Anne’s School, Religious Education plays a central and vital part. At the heart of Catholic education lies the Christian vision of the human person. This vision is expressed and explored in Religious Education.
For all our pupils Religious Education is a proper subject in its own right in the school’s curriculum. It is a rigorous academic discipline, and as such is taught, developed and resourced with the same commitment as any other subject.
The objectives of Religious Education are:
To develop knowledge and understanding of the mystery of God and of Jesus Christ, of the church, and of the central beliefs which Catholics hold
To develop awareness and appreciation of Catholic belief, understanding of its impact on personal and social behaviour and of the vital relationship between faith and life, life and faith
To encourage study, investigation and reflection
To develop appropriate skills:
- the ability to listen, to think critically, spiritually and theologically
- to acquire knowledge and organise it effectively; to make informed judgements
To foster appropriate attitudes:
- Respect for truth
- Respect for the views of others
- Awareness of the demands of religious commitment in everyday life especially the challenges of living in a multicultural, multifaith society
he outcome of Religious Education is religiously literate pupils.
At St Anne’s we learn about God. If I was in a different school I wouldn’t know as much.
"This is a good school with good teachers, lots of friends and four playgrounds!"
"The church is nearby and that is good."
"I love the library – everything is neat and tidy."
"I like being taught by a variety of teachers then I can say hello to them when I am around the school."
"The assemblies are good. I like hearing about what the other classes are doing."
