Admissions
ENTRY INTO NURSERY
Children normally enter the nursery at the beginning of two school terms i.e. September and January when they become 3+ years old. Where possible it is the policy of the school to keep the age of the new entrant below 4 years.
The intake to the nursery is staggered over several days and in the half term before the child is admitted we hope each parent and child will visit the nursery and get to know the staff and become conversant with the nursery arrangements. When your child eventually begins part-time in the nursery it is extremely important that you always accompany her/him and you always make sure that there is someone to collect him/her when the nursery finishes. It is also most helpful in the early stages for a parent to stay with the child and give re-assurance and help during the settling-in period.
ENTRY INTO FULL-TIME SCHOOL
Children will be admitted to Reception in September 2001 and January 2002. Children born between 1 September 1996 and 29 February 1997 will be admitted in September 2001. Children born between 1 March and 31 August 1997 will be admitted in January 2002. Children will be part-time for one week.
Copthorne Primary School has an admission number of 60. Places are allocated by the LEA as we are usually oversubscribed and demand for places are high.
Parents who would like to see the school at work are asked to telephone Mrs Zaffar, who will be pleased to make an appointment to show you round the school and answer any questions you may have.
