Sheep Sculpting

Local artist Phil Bradley visited the school.  He showed us how to use willow to create lifesize sheep. The sheep are now on display at Darwin Millenium Gardens in Ilkley, after being unveiled by Joe Maiden, the Radio Leeds gardening expert.  Four children represented the school at the unveiling ceremony, and collected a certificate for the school's good work at willow weaving.

Cross Country Events - March 2010

Last weekend we took part in the Wharfedale Schools Sports Association Cross Country Event organised by Mrs Moffat. Amongst the many successes was the first place awarded to the Year 3 and 4 team.  The previous week, over 70 children ran in the All Saints Cross Country. Again we had lots of 1st, 2nd and 3rd places.  For further details see the Ilkley Harriers Website.

World Maths Day

We enjoyed taking part in the World Maths Day Challenge on Wednesday 3rd March. We answered 226, 728 questions correctly over the 48 hours and played our part in breaking the world record.  Here are pictures of the children doing mental maths sums during their play time!

Thank you to our Year 2 parents who organised a bun sale in support of Haiti.

Fun in the Snow

School managed to keep open throughout the recent snowy weather. At the end of each snowy day we wrapped up warm and went outside to enjoy the snow together!

In December Key Stage 1 and Reception wowed their audiences with their christmas performances.

Sikh Faith Tutor

On 30th November a Sikh faith tutor from the Interfaith Education Centre in Bradford came to talk to each Key Stage about his religion. He brought with him many artefacts and it was good to see these and to enhance our understanding of other faiths.

Freddie Fit - November 2009

We all enjoyed an exciting visit from Freddie Fit where each class from Year 1 upwards visited the hall and did a keep fit session to music. Here are some of the photos of Year 3 and 4.

Remembrance Assembly

Year 6 delivered a moving and informative assembly last week to mark Remembrance Day. Focusing mainly on their History topic of World War 2, the assembly was confidently presented by all children to an appreciative audience including their parents and the rest of the school.

Open Day - 17th October

Another successful and busy open day was held on Saturday morning with present, past and future families joining us to look around the school and chat to staff and pupils. Comments from the visitors' book included "Brilliant!", "Fantastic as always", "Thank you very much for a reassuring and warm welcome" and "The school gets better and better, staff are so friendly. We love it!"

Hatching Chicks

Year 2 were lucky enough to have 8 chicks hatch in an incubation box in the classroom. The children enjoyed watching the chicks emerge from the eggs and we able to handle them once they were old enough. The chicks have now gone to a good home!
